The American Petroleum Institute (API) runs a certification
programme for individual, especially for the in-service
inspection of pressure vessels, piping and above ground
Storage tanks. The API schemes are linked to specific set of
API and ASME codes relating to the type of equipment
covered : API 510: Pressure vessel inspector, API 570: Authorized
Piping inspector, API 653: Storage tank inspector above ground
and these are the main ones. API standards are designed to
assist industry professionals improve the efficiency and cost
effectiveness of their operations.
